Tlingit Indians destroy Russian-American Trading Company (Alaska)

Rising up against Russian enslavement and other violent practices, Tlingit warriors destroy several Russian settlements, including Old Sitka, leaving New Russia as the only remaining Russian outpost on mainland Alaska. However, in just two years, Russians re-establish their presence in the Battle of Sitka. By 1812, the Russian-American Trading Company moves further south to northern California, following sea otter hunting grounds.
